After the birth of my daughter in July 2020, I found that I was no longer able to produce the same quantity and quality of custom orders that I had before. Garty Goodies took yet another pivot when I decided to invest my naptime breaks into creating content for TikTok. In a few short weeks, my account exploded, and I reached half a million followers by May of 2021.

Hello! My name is Maddie Gartmann. I am the creator of Garty Goodies and a self-taught cookie artist. I first began making decorated sugar cookies in 2015 through studying other artists on Instagram and YouTube. Once I felt confident in my skills, I began to sell my cookies on a limited basis, as I was still working full time as a high school English teacher.

My business began to flourish when I left my job in the fall of 2018 in order to stay at home with my newborn son. In 2019 I merged my passion for teaching with my passion for cookies and began offering cookie classes. Then, my business pivoted during the pandemic, where I morphed my classes in to an online format and began offering DIY kits for some much needed entertainment during quarantine.

Though I am no longer offering custom orders for local clients, I teach in-person classes on occasion, and plan to offer a virtual class for anyone to take around the world soon.
